A few days ago, we noted how Pete Alonso goes thru a slump on a yearly basis that tends to last around 80 PA. If you missed it, here were the gory details:
2019: 7/12-8/1 – 82 PA, .125/.305/.313
2020: 7/24-8/11 – 79 PA, .197/.329/.303
2021: 5/5-6/6 – 78 PA, .197/.308/.303
2022: 8/15-9/6 – 87 PA, .175/.241/.300
2023: 4/22-5/15 – 86 PA, .164/.291/.315
Since that list was originally published, Alonso has homered in back-to-back games. So, it seems only natural to wonder how he does when he busts out of the slump.
2019: 8/2-8/18 – 68 PA, .379/.471/.759, 6 HR
2020: 8/12-9/6 – 88 PA, .247/.330/.597, 8 HR
2021: 6/8-6/28 – 82 PA, .306/.378/.542, 5 HR
2022: 9/7-9/27 – 85 PA, .311/.388/.689, 8 HR
The Mets’ offense sure could use a three-week hot streak from Alonso right about now, one where he homers every dozen or so PA. And if the rookies want to join him in a homer party going forward, that would be great. Make sure to catch today’s rubber game against the Rays at 1:10 to see if Alonso continues to bust out.
And if you missed it, here are all three blasts from last night’s thrilling comeback, courtesy of SNY.
I just have to applaud the use of denouement. Well done sir.
Good thing I looked up the spelling…
Some things money can’t buy , but for everything else, there’s a Buck Showalter smile. Priceless.
