Rick JM Yesterday at 1:15 pm
Alone again… naturally?
Brian Yesterday at 1:16 pm
Hey Jose
Rick JM Yesterday at 1:18 pm
Well, hello there sir
Brian Yesterday at 1:19 pm
Let’s hope we get good Q today
loads the bases but gets out of it. Now for the offense to continue from yesterday
Vientos batting 2nd – didn’t expect to see that. Like, ever
Brian Yesterday at 1:41 pm
Much better inning for Q in the 2nd
Pete lays off the 3-2 slider and gets a walk. Nice to see
Brian Yesterday at 1:53 pm
McNeil with a double down the line and Mets have two in scoring position
WP and we have the lead!
ChrisF Yesterday at 1:58 pm
Afternoon Mets fans
Brian Yesterday at 1:59 pm
Hey Chris. Here just in time to see your pal
BADer grounds out to end the inning
ChrisF Yesterday at 1:59 pm
B, I tried to make that post again, and it goes through all the gyrations but never appears, and then if I retry it saids its a duplicate. carzy
Cmon now, I think its easy to tar and feather the entire offense and not just your buddy badder
Brian Yesterday at 2:00 pm
Why don’t you try a new first sentence and then post the first graph. Maybe the length of it is causing problems?
ChrisF Yesterday at 2:00 pm
ok
Brian Yesterday at 2:01 pm
Maybe, but the rest of the offense doesn’t prance around like BADer does
ChrisF Yesterday at 2:02 pm
nope
Brian Yesterday at 2:04 pm
Dick Williams for the trivia. Don’t know the other. Alvin Dark?
ChrisF Yesterday at 2:06 pm
I remain steadfast that the Mets should have been sellers at the deadline, signaling the desire to get the team younger and more quality. The kids need to play. The fact is the offense, as has been for a long time and for reasons unknown, is streaky for the entire team. Its common to see a run of 12-15 hit games and 10 + runs where everyone hits up and down the lineup, to be followed by games where absolutely no one can hit. Why these trends effects everyone at the same time is a mystery to me. It was clear the team would never sustain the June run and even then just made it to the top of the third WC position (as preposterous as that sounds in July or even August). “Regression” to the mean was inevitable, as would be the fall after clawing up through the muck. At no point has the starting or relief pitching been sustainable to be taken for a serious post season effort. Add the streaky team hitting and that was never a strong position for the team to be in.
do you see the above PP?
Brian Yesterday at 2:07 pm
I see it
Name Yesterday at 2:07 pm
woohoo a lead
ChrisF Yesterday at 2:07 pm
As a side note, Im much more in the Ricky Bobby camp of “if you ain’t first, you’re last” camp. I think every action should be made to make a genuine contender for a world series victory. I dont buy for one minute lets have a 81 win season just to enjoy more games in the season with 5 more wins. So what would that have meant for this season: Iglesias, Alonso, Severino, Quintana, Bader, and maybe even Torrens all on the block. What would the haul be for that? Who knows, but Stearns would have got something for the future. The fact is the team needs to get younger and needs to have the kids play innings and get AB with the stakes lower.
We have another road trip out west, an achilles heel for this team, where we get the top of the wild card contenders in AZ and SD (both +15 over .500 today), not to mention the O’s (+20 over .500) right after playing the “peeing in your punchbowl just for fun” Marlins leave town. Looking into September the Mets have 7 games against the Phillies (+19 over .500), 3 versus the Braves in ATL, and then end the season on the road against Milwaukee (+15 over .500), not to mention sprinkling in Boston (+9 over .500). The only relief in there is the 6 games v the White Sox and Jays. I think an 81 win season is marginally possible right now.
its was all for Metsense and Gud
Brian Yesterday at 2:09 pm
I want to see another World Series championship before I die. But the regular season means something, too.
Name Yesterday at 2:10 pm
phew
Rick JM Yesterday at 2:10 pm
I’ve been thinking about a probability and stats explanation for the Mets teamwide feast or famine streaks this year
Brian Yesterday at 2:10 pm
I want to see another 101-win season, too.
Rick JM Yesterday at 2:11 pm
Brian, don’t talk luike that. If for no other reason than that I’m sure I’m older than you are
ChrisF Yesterday at 2:12 pm
That sentiment isnt lost on me B, but I see getting to the CS as the key goal, and of course winning a WS. not getting there is a fail, 70 wins or 82 wins, all the same to me
Brian Yesterday at 2:12 pm
At least I’ve seen the Mets and Knicks win. Still waiting for the Vikings to win a Super Bowl.
ChrisF Yesterday at 2:13 pm
didnt the purple people eaters have a NFL superbowl win?
Brian Yesterday at 2:14 pm
They won an NFL Championship but lost to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl
ChrisF Yesterday at 2:14 pm
never thought of it like that Brian. In that regard, of my big 4 all my teams have won (Mets, 49ers, Lakers, Blackhawks)
friggin chiefs. im full of that
Brian Yesterday at 2:16 pm
I’m waiting for the PPO for the A’s starting pitcher

Metsense – a post from yesterday is above in this thread for you
(and Gus)
in 3 pieces
Metsense Yesterday at 2:19 pm
I saw it and was reading it When Japan Guy Hit a home run
Name Yesterday at 2:19 pm
74 pitches for 2+, that’s 12.33 ppo
Brian Yesterday at 2:20 pm
Too funny, I was typing the same thing
Metsense Yesterday at 2:22 pm
Chris I don’t agree with you
Brian Yesterday at 2:23 pm
Two walks for Pete
ChrisF Yesterday at 2:23 pm
12 PPO
Metsense Yesterday at 2:24 pm
There are 30 teams 16
ChrisF Yesterday at 2:25 pm
I know you dont, but I think the coming schedule does not in the least favor the Mets
Name Yesterday at 2:26 pm
our scrub finally coming back to earth
89 pitches for 8 outs, i can’t remember an outing as inefficient as this
Torrens!
Metsense Yesterday at 2:30 pm
Torrens
Chris. I’ll be satisfied with their perpetual playoff team
Name Yesterday at 2:31 pm
can Q stumble his way thru 2 more innings to get the W?
Metsense Yesterday at 2:31 pm
He has some rope now Just long as he doesn’t Hang himself
Name Yesterday at 2:34 pm
requiring 6 innings? wow
Brian Yesterday at 2:34 pm
Requiring a SP to throw 100 pitches would be ultra-radical
Name Yesterday at 2:35 pm
what about openers?
Rick JM Yesterday at 2:35 pm
Thanks for the remainder, announcer dude. I was going to bring this up in the WED thread
https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/40847173/mlb-rule-changes-2024-six-inning-starting-pitcher-injuries-tommy-john
Could six-inning minimum starting pitcher rule come to MLB…
Could one big rule change make starters stars again and in…
Name Yesterday at 2:35 pm
bullpen games not allowed?
Rick JM Yesterday at 2:35 pm
there will be exceptions allegedly
Metsense Yesterday at 2:36 pm
There goes Peterson’s ERA
Rick JM Yesterday at 2:36 pm
Some instances when a starter would be allowed to leave early might include: He throws 100 pitches He gives up four or more earned runs He gets injured (with a required injured list stint to avoid manipulation)
Brian Yesterday at 2:36 pm
Metsense
There goes Peterson’s ERA Ha!
Rick JM Yesterday at 2:36 pm
I think it’s ridiculous
like that extra inning free runner crapl
Name Yesterday at 2:37 pm
i’d go more indirect and limit roster moves
Rick JM Yesterday at 2:37 pm
One thing that needs to change asap
162 IP requirement to qualify for ERA title
Brian Yesterday at 2:38 pm
My first reaction is like the 3-batter rule for relievers. I don’t like a rule to mandate what clubs should do anyway. But ultimately, it would be good for the game.
Rick JM Yesterday at 2:38 pm
I’d cut it to 135 IP
Brian, good for the game with or without exceptions?
Brian Yesterday at 2:39 pm
with
Rick JM Yesterday at 2:39 pm
OK
One thing I have noticed is that just about everybody throws upper 90s and higher
Is that a recent thing?
Brian Yesterday at 2:41 pm
That was a strike. Not catching it cost Q a walk
ChrisF Yesterday at 2:43 pm
I disagree that everybody throws upper 90s
Brian Yesterday at 2:43 pm
If they require that, would teams go to a 7-man pen.
Name Yesterday at 2:43 pm
90 mins for 3.5 innings
not even 3.5 innings
there goes our cushion
Metsense Yesterday at 2:44 pm
I can’t believe He hung himself
Brian Yesterday at 2:44 pm
I go to get a drink and you guys give up a grand slam? Shame! Shame!
Name Yesterday at 2:44 pm
at least it wasn’t a 5 run HR
Brian Yesterday at 2:45 pm
4 ER – he can be removed from the game
Name Yesterday at 2:48 pm
wow
Metsense Yesterday at 2:48 pm
Dang
Brian Yesterday at 2:48 pm
Shocked that Lindor made such a poor throw
Looks like we’ll win a challenge
Metsense Yesterday at 2:49 pm
He missed the plate
Name Yesterday at 2:49 pm
i’m shocked he missed that. didn’t look like he touched it live
by he im talking about the ump
Metsense Yesterday at 2:50 pm
And he is calling balls and strikes
Brian Yesterday at 2:50 pm
Umpire Scorecard should count that as a missed cal
Metsense Yesterday at 2:52 pm
Bark at the park, That Ump needs a dog
Name Yesterday at 2:52 pm
so that’s 89 pitches for 8 outs on the A’s side. 92 pitches for 12 outs on the Mets side. 171 pitches for 20 outs. that’s got to be some kind of inefficiency record right there
ChrisF Yesterday at 2:54 pm
That’s an average of 8.55 PPO. Its bad. At least Q is under 8. The number should be between 4-5
Name Yesterday at 2:54 pm
i can’t do math. 181 pitches for 20 outs
ChrisF Yesterday at 2:55 pm
@Brian, this is the second straight day with Lindor making a terrible throw with plenty of time. Yesterday on an easy throw to 3B and hit the umpire

might have to send him to Australia at this point
ChrisF Yesterday at 2:57 pm
c’mon now, hes Show ready
Metsense Yesterday at 2:58 pm
He will be in Flushing for a long time
ChrisF Yesterday at 2:58 pm

Name Yesterday at 2:58 pm
on a serious note, this feels like Dom Smith 2020. smoke and mirrors
Brian Yesterday at 3:01 pm
Winker no longer batting .300 as a Met
Metsense Yesterday at 3:01 pm
Dom didn’t have that kind of power
Brian Yesterday at 3:03 pm
Dom had 199 PA in 2020 with a .368 BABIP
Vientos has 285 PA with a .306 BABIP
Dom had great power in 2020 with a .289 ISO
Name Yesterday at 3:07 pm
a loss today would certainly sting
Brian Yesterday at 3:07 pm
Maton, Garrett and Stanek didn’t pitch yesterday. Why use Brazoban back-to-back here?
Metsense Yesterday at 3:11 pm
Mendoza has Groundhog day Kind of mind
It wouldn’t been a good time Butto in this game
But he was wasted In the 1st game
Iglesias Is still hitting

maybe we’ll get some mickey mouse baseball
Brian Yesterday at 3:29 pm
Just got an email from Mets.com saying that the club has announced its 2025 Spring Training schedule
Guess when this one’s over Grapefruit League action is right around the corner
Name Yesterday at 3:33 pm
ha
Brian Yesterday at 3:34 pm
If this game goes extras, I’m blaming you
ChrisF Yesterday at 3:34 pm
does anyone really believe the Mets look like a playoff team?
Name Yesterday at 3:35 pm
remember when we thought Reed could possibly start games
running out of mound visits. never seen that before
Brian Yesterday at 3:37 pm
When the Braves went 7-14 – did they look like a playoff tam?
Name Yesterday at 3:37 pm
Reed doesn’t want to play extras either
i think it’s time to move Reed ‘on the bubble’ with Ottavino
Metsense Yesterday at 3:43 pm
Finally…..but damage
Brian Yesterday at 3:46 pm
BADer
ChrisF Yesterday at 3:47 pm
I dont think the Braves look like a playoff team, but my question was do the Mets look like a playoff team
Brian Yesterday at 3:49 pm
Perhaps it’s a fool’s errand to declare whether a team looks like a playoff team during any stretch of the season.
Name Yesterday at 3:51 pm
40+ pitches for this normally 1 inning reliever
Brian Yesterday at 3:53 pm
rats
Brian Yesterday at 4:05 pm

if it wasn’t for bad luck…
Ugh, and Stanek coming in.
Metsense Yesterday at 4:23 pm
Gary is thinking too much
Brian Yesterday at 4:26 pm
3:15 into the game – he’s going a little crazy. It would be even worse if it was Keith instead of Ron with him in the booth.
Metsense Yesterday at 4:29 pm
I’m glad there is a pitch clock
Brian Yesterday at 4:32 pm
BADer
Name Yesterday at 4:34 pm
they better trade him before his impending TJ surgery
Brian Yesterday at 4:47 pm
Diaz did his job. Now for the offense to score two
Name Yesterday at 4:49 pm
but if we score 1 then we have a chance at 4 hours!
Brian Yesterday at 4:51 pm
life!
Name Yesterday at 4:51 pm
way to take one
send Taylor?
Metsense Yesterday at 4:54 pm
I was gonna say yes
Brian Yesterday at 4:54 pm
they weren’t going to run him with Pete up.
Name Yesterday at 4:54 pm

Brian Yesterday at 4:54 pm
But it’s on the table now
Name Yesterday at 4:54 pm
could of
history being made!
Metsense Yesterday at 4:55 pm
Now definitely
Brian Yesterday at 4:55 pm
hero time for Alvarez
Rick JM Yesterday at 4:56 pm
One pitch
Quintana could have thrown absolutely anything besides that meatball, and the outcome would not have been worse
Name Yesterday at 4:57 pm
3:45!
we did it
Metsense Yesterday at 4:57 pm
This was definitely a tough loss
The bullpen didn’t do it
The walks were excruciating
Name Yesterday at 4:59 pm
you can’t win with 11 walks
Rick JM Yesterday at 4:59 pm
OK, didn’t one you complain the other day when they used butto and diaz when there was no point?
sorry to be redundant, but one damn pitch!
Metsense Yesterday at 5:00 pm
I did in the comments Gut reaction
Name Yesterday at 5:00 pm
it’s not one damn pitch when you give up 11 walks
Rick JM Yesterday at 5:01 pm
Why TF would anyone throw something which could change a 5-0 to 5-4 while there was 2 outs?
Metsense Yesterday at 5:02 pm
Otherwise , Thanks for the chatter Have a pleasant evening Because the afternoon Turn out terrible
Rick JM Yesterday at 5:02 pm
So, you think there was a good chance someone would hit a HR with base loaded and 2 outs 3-2 count?
see yas
