It was a good news/bad news type of week. The good news is that starting with the 4:00 Sunday games, my picks went 6-1. The bad news is that the games before that were 0-9. That brings the season record to 49-56-1.

Thursday, October 31, 7:55 p.m.

Jaguars +7.5

If only there were all 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. starts. In those traditional time slots, my picks went 8-2. In the rest of them, the picks were 1-4. Still, a 9-6 record overall is solid. That brings the season record to 43-46-1.

Broke the losing streak with a .500 mark. Two half-point losses and the Steelers’ defense falling apart on the last drive. Wah-wah. My picks are at 26-34-1 overall this season. Overdue for a good week!

It was ugly again last week for my picks, giving me two straight losing efforts – something that didn’t happen once in the 2023 season. After a 5-10-1 week, my picks are at 19-27-2 overall. Let the climb back to respectability start tonight!

My goal last year was to pick every game and finish above .500 against the spread. Came close – missed some Thursday games – and last year’s final record was 137-123-10. I was pretty happy with that, especially considering a 5-11 mark in Week 1. So, here’s hoping for a better start this time.
