The David Peterson luck ran out Tuesday, as he didn’t pitch particularly well and the offense certainly didn’t perform for him like it has for most of his outings. The result was a 6-2 loss to the Blue Jays. Combined with a win for the Braves and the two teams are back tied for the final Wild Card spot.
Peterson gave up eight hits and five runs – four earned – in 4.1 IP. And the offense managed just six hits and two runs in an effort that seemed fairly listless.
You can’t win ‘em all and the Mets still have a chance to claim the series with a win Wednesday afternoon. Sean Manaea takes the mound in a 3:07 Eastern time start.
The Mets should have lost yesterday, and should have lost today. If they at least win the one they deserve, they win the series. The Jays are a poor fundamentally good team. So, there is talent to overcome. Hopefully someone wakes up the Mets bats tomorrow and they take the series.
Gut Reaction: Peterson didn’t have command of his pitches. He was missing his spot and Toronto took advantage of that. It was a hiccup for Peterson. The offense didn’t do anything again. Let’s win the series this afternoon.
