Shelley DuvallThe Mets have a lot of positives to take away from this game, but managed to come up on the short end of a 4-3 loss. The culprit was a bad, fat plate pitch from Addison Reed in the 8th inning that gave Adonis Garcia a two-run homer and the Braves the lead for good. It seemed like the Mets had a comeback in them in the top of the ninth, but a leadoff walk was followed by three hard hit balls that hit leather.

It’s a shame too, because nearly everything else went right for the Mets on this night in Atlanta. Matt Harvey pitched a decent enough game, allowing two runs in six innings, followed by a scoreless frame from Sean Gilmartin. The pitchers were supported by some nice defense too, including another base stealer thrown out by Travis d’Arnaud and the potential tying run thrown out at the plate attempting to tag up on a long fly ball to Michael Conforto. Alejandro de Aza contributed two hits and an RBI and Neil Walker got two hits of his own, including a clutch two-out, two-run single. James Loney continued producing with two walks and a hit.

This is a tough loss for the Mets, but lets hope we bounce back tomorrow. We certainly have the pitching matchup advantage with Steven Matz (7-3, 2.74 ERA) facing Aaron Blair (0-4, 7.19 ERA). Let’s go Mets!

It was a deflating loss against an inferior team. Sometimes your setup man or closer gives up a crucial hit. It happens, they don’t end up the season with a 0.00 ERA. The injuries have made it difficult to put teams like the Braves away. Matt is right when he said they played well, just fell short on the score. LGM

Uggh…how could we lose another game to the Braves? At least we didn’t lose Conforto and d’Arnaud to injuries.
