Stop me if you’ve heard this one before but the Mets played a doubleheader and split. At least this time they varied the outcome a bit, as they dropped the first game and took the second game of the twinbill against the Pirates Saturday at Citi Field.

In the nightcap, Pete Alonso homered and the Mets relievers provided the relief they did not in the opener, leading the Mets to a 4-2 win. In the first game, the Mets drew first blood but they were unable to maintain the lead, as they lost by a 6-2 final score/

Editor’s Note – The regular Sunday column will be posted after today’s game.
