Please use this thread all week to discuss any Mets-specific topic you wish.

The Mets have begun interviews for their managerial opening and reports have these interviews lasting up to five hours. How would you like to be the guy who was being grilled for five hours and who doesn’t even get the job?

Have to admit – the idea of the “interview” being like an interrogation scene from a B-movie keeps popping into my head. Our perspective manager is in a dimly lit room and the people doing the interview are shining a bright light in his eyes and keep asking the same type of question over and over again.

Jacob deGrom has thrown 94 pitches – do you let him go out for the next inning?
Jacob deGrom has thrown 93 pitches – do you let him go out for the next inning?
Jacob deGrom has thrown 92 pitches – do you let him go out for the next inning?

and/or

Dominic Smith swings and misses badly at a letter-high pitch – what do you do?
Dominic Smith swings and misses badly at a shoulder-high pitch – what do you do?
Dominic Smith swings and misses badly at an eye-high pitch – what do you do?

Or is it just a case of asking 100 different scenarios revolving around one main idea:
The front office wants you to do X but your 25 years in the game – and the reason we want to hire you is your experience – tells you to do Y. What do you do?

Or is it all just finding out how they would have handled the rat/racoon debate?

Since Gil Hodges is now elected to the Hall of Fame – can we rededicate the Citi Field rotunda to him?

He was? No opinion because he was before my time

But when is Mex, the greatest fielding 1B of all time, gonna get in?

    I want experience first:
Go Showalter, and figure you have a good on-field manager for three years.

I want a guy who lets starters pitch deep into games… every fifth day!

I also want a guy that players and fans can simply trust that he knows more than they/we do… I would enjoy watching Buck use his instincts… Luis Rojas and Mickey Callaway had no instincts… drove me crazy.

Starters who pitch deep into games has gone the way of the #3 catcher, the good field no hit middle infielder, the LH power hitter, the veteran PH and the Loogy. Aces maybe go 7 , more likely 6 and the rest 5 innings or less . It’s the 2020s!

Minor league rule 5 draft happened today for those desperate for actual baseball news.

Looks like the Mets picked up two relievers named Alex Valverde and Carlos Ocampo, and subsequently lost two relievers Allan Winans and Tommy Wilson.

Incredible that they left Winans available. Ok…

For those that don’t know how the minor league phase allows a team to protect 38 more players in the AAA phase above the original 40 protected at the MLB phase. Hence, the top 78 talents are protected…
