Option e) none of the above. trade for Brandon Phillips. Improves offense, defense and clubhouse. Wouldn’t have cost much in trade. Only 2 years left on contract.

Loved the idea of Zobrist. Sure fire 2 hole hitter and solid at 2B. But I think money was not the issue…Zobrist said it was all mddle of the country location as he lives in nashville.

That said, Walker is a classic Mets move…fill a hole for almost no money.

Im just glad Herrera will have more time to mature.

Sign A. Cabrera for SS. Slide Tejada to 2nd base. Use Flores as a super sub. Can switch RT and WF depending on the pitcher. Trade Harvey,Duda and Montero for Cargo and Arendo. Move Wright over to first base. Less diving. Less stress on his back.

      Cabrera just signed.

With who Chris? And how much?

2 years /18.5 million with option. My guess is 7 mil year 1, 10 mil year 2 and the buyout is 1.5 mil and the option worth 11 mil.

Solid bat for a SS. I haven’t watched him play SS for an extended period of time, but I hope he isn’t as awful as the defensive metrics say he is. Still, he’s only 30 and it’s only 2 years so it seems like a fair deal. I do prefer Cabrera over Desmond though (who i’m guessing will have to settle for a 1 year deal)

With the Mets? Amazing. New DP combo for New York. I guess Tejada or Flores is gone.

Let’s get an Outfielder now …

  • Dan Kolton

I wish we had Zobrist, but Walker still falls into my plan of signing Murphy to play 3B, moving Write to play 1B, and trading Duda while his stock is high!

  • Pete

    Maybe for an outfielder Dan?

  • Mike Koehler

I’m kinda ok with how things turned out, but I easily could have been good with signing a defensive-first shortstop like Alexei Ramirez and shifting Flores to second with Tejada backing them up.

The loss of Murphy and Cepedes is highly significant. In fact, they can’t be replaced regardless of what hardliners say. The front office knows this. Walker is a nice addition, but he can’t compensate for Murphy’s overall loss. Wright’s spinal issues aren’t going away which will continue to adversely affect both his defense and offense. Conforto I believe is a rising star and our catcher should improve. Forget Herrera. He has some power but can’t hit ML breaking balls and change-ups. Herrera is better than a .215 lifetime hitter, but not by much. Gandy is a class act who will continue be be an asset both in and out of the clubhouse…Because of Zobrist’s age, I’m glad they didn’t sign him. Trust me, Brandon Phillips is the best defensive 2nd baseman in the NL and good hitter but a liability in the clubhouse. If he played in NY the press would be all over him.

Why should I trust you? I mean, you sound like a blowhard.

Have you ever been in an MLB clubhouse?
      Do you know Phillips personally?
Have you ever been in contact with any MLB player that crossed paths with Phillips?
Do you have any firsthand knowledge whatsoever?

Or are you just repeating things white sportswriters say about black athletes?
